Getting out the door in the morning is hard. And if you have kids and have to get them off to school before you leave for work, forget about it – it’s doubly hard! Here are some tips to free yourself up and let your mornings pass with greater ease before you venture out into the world:
Pack your lunch the night before. If you make your lunch to go (and we highly recommend it as a healthy and economical choice), pack it the night before. The last thing you want to do if you have to make an early morning meeting is cook your chicken, make your sandwich or cut up fruits and veggies.
Lay out your outfit the night before. If you iron every day, this is a no brainer. Lay out everything, down to your shoes, socks and underwear, so you’re not scrambling for that shirt or pair of pants you wanted to wear.
Set up the coffee so it’s ready to go the night before. (Are you sensing a theme here?) Grind that coffee, set up that Keurig, or put out that cup with the Splenda in it already – whatever your routine, it should be ready to grab and drink or go.
Pack your bag the night before. Is it going to rain? Are you taking in a special folder for a presentation you have to do? Will you be needing your gym clothes post work? Pack it all up – you got it – the night before.
Kid lunches and outfits should be prepped the night before. Practice makes perfect – what you do for yourself, you should also have your kids do.
Take these 5 tips to heart. Spending more time on the morning the night before will ensure your morning goes smoothly and you get to where you need to be on time! A good start to the day feels good and makes you more equipped to deal with other challenges that might come your way later in the day.
