I’m not quite sure how we got to the end of July already, didn’t summer just begin?!  Dr. Pollack is busy with clients, our children are having the time of their lives at sleepaway camp and day camp, and we’re having fun at work in the midst of Week One of the 7-Week Summer Wellness Challenge, where we’re getting in the fitness habit with a mediation practice.  Find us on Facebook and Follow us on Twitter to stay up to date with the latest and greatest! I can’t let the month pass by without talking about some of my favorite things!

BEAUTY – Sometimes those great facial cleansers just don’t do the trick when it comes to removing make-up, and the skin tissue under the eye area is very delicate – you don’t want to pull at it.  That’s why Laura Mercier’s Flawless Skin Cleansing Oil will wash away the day’s make-up without total ease and none of the roughness!  This product can forever change your nighttime routine.

FASHION – Back-to-basics, casual living is where its at this summer. My feet are taking a much-needed rest from those 4-inch killer heels.  Just last night my 6-year old daughter dressed me for dinner in baggy black pants, a cute crop top, and sandals.  My favorite was the flower she added in my hair from our garden – only out east in the Hamptons could I get away with that hippie touch.  Get in touch with your back-to-basic casual summer chic while the temperatures are still hot – what can you get away with only in the summer – a crazy hat, wild sunglasses, harem pants, a backpack?  Make it yours and don’t apologize.

FOOD – No doubt about it, eating organic tastes and looks cleaner!  This summer I have been very adventurous in exploring just about every type of vegetable and fruits around.  I am surrounded by farms, which have become a staple in my life.  When I return back to NYC full-time, I plan on exploring the best farmers markets by me.  Here is a recipe for one of my favorite snacks post-run (light on the carbs and high on the taste):

Apple Cinnamon Toast

Toast one slice of whole or grain bread (gluten free Udis is yummy) lightly with a smear of honey* and a sprinkle of cinnamon.  Top it off with 5 slices of apple.

And a big “merci” to Pierre’s Restaurant on Main Street in Bridgehampton — if you can’t escape to St. Bart’s, this is the next best thing.  The lobster (broiled or steamed, both are delicious) and the avocado mango salad are out of this world!

CULTURE –  Flying Point Beach is one of my favorite beaches in the Hamptons.  Whether you want to go solo, with a partner or your kids, it’s low key, the opposite of superficial and when the sun is out, you close your eyes and feel like you might be in heaven.  Here are the reasons to check it out:

-Driving down Flying Point Road, you’ll see the most beautiful homes. Each one is better than the next!

-The parking lot is tiny!  Fewer crowds!

-Blue crab sightings.  Need I say more?

-The ice cream truck frequents this beach.

-You can have bonfires here.
