Mentally, my mind is still on vacation in Aruba (especially with the weather forecast for a blizzard!), where I can maintain my tan, but my heart and soul are back here in NYC, chomping at the bit, excited to have the kids back at school and working like a busy bee at DASHA®, where we’re lining up all sorts of exciting things, events and more in the year ahead! But I can’t let this month skate on by without mentioning some of my favorite things!
BEAUTY. Winter skin doesn’t have to mean winter dryness in the bitter cold! Stay moisturized! I’m actually a big fan of the lotion that comes in the tubs of various sizes and scents from the tried and true The Body Shop. My favorites are the Shea moisture and coconut. Because you don’t have to pump it, you can use every last bit to keep your arms, legs, neck, chest and back as silky smooth as they are in hotter temperatures. The Body Shop also always runs great deals, such as three for the price of two! Can’t beat it.
FASHION. NYC is all about the boots in winter. But be kind to your feet! The Frye Company has been making boots since the 1860s. They know how to do it! They have so many hot, luxurious leather styles that feel good on your feet – I encourage you to check them out!
FOOD. We’re all still in detox mood from the combination of holiday food and laziness and it’s super cold, but that doesn’t mean we should put on the pounds! Hale and Hearty Soups is a New York City lunch staple, and for good reason. Their homemade soups and the delicious fresh ingredients in their salads have something that speaks to your taste buds and they taste good and fill you up without letting you pack on the pounds. They also have buy ten, get one free cards (as if you needed another incentive).
CULTURE. It’s been on Broadway for more than ten years, and I just have to recommend it because it’s so much spectacle and so much fun for the whole family, Mamma Mia! You can generally purchase tickets at approximately $60/each, making it one of Broadway’s more affordable options for the whole family, and you will not be able to avoid dancing in the aisles during the curtain call!
