Lots of things going on! We’re incredibly excited for Fashion Week and are coordinating with so many great people. We’ll be at Milk Studios to check out some of the stunning designs by Cushnie Et Ochs, Costello Tagliapietra, Simon Spurr, Peter Som, Ohne Titel, and more. Follow me @shapollack and be sure to pick up a gift certificate for a 30-minute massage or session on the DASHA® PhysioRED while perusing the Fashion Week collections!
Putting together an edgy, runway-confident look has everything to do with being comfortable in your own skin, and a huge part of that is feeling fit and energized. I am nonstop busy, but I wouldn’t be able to balance the eight thousand things I have to do if I didn’t take the time to hit the gym.
New Yorkers know what I’m talking about when I say I love the rush and energy of Manhattan. But it is so easy to get caught up in the craze. Exercise is my outlet. It’s not just about squeezing in a killer workout (although that, too!) — it’s about scheduling a time for myself. I’m lucky to have a superb trainer, Wun Mak, and working out with him in the morning is how I start my day. It gives me clarity and focus, and lets me slow down, even as I’m pushing hard. It’s my way of stepping back and being present.
We put too much pressure on ourselves, and working out, like so many other things, is about striking a balance. Most of us don’t have time to run for an hour, five days a week. But we can all take twenty minutes every other day to do a high intensity bodyweight workout with planks, pushups, squats, and lunges. Taking that time absolutely yields physical results, and it’s also the best way I know of to de-stress and regroup.
What are your exercise strategies in this sleepless city? See you all at Fashion Week!
