DASHA® is proud to introduce the June 2015 client of the month, Maria Cellier.  Read below on how Maria came to DASHA®.

Please share a little of your background with the DASHA® community. My name is Maria Cellier and I am an executive assistant with a financial institution in Manhattan, where I handle various administrative tasks for our Country Head. I am responsible for managing her calendar and ensuring meetings, travel and other commitments are all seamlessly in place. I also actively work with our team on event planning, which is an exciting part of the job. I work a full day through 6:30pm or 7:00pm and later on busy days. Once or twice a month, I also attend a cocktail reception hosted by an association of event planners, which introduces a new venue each time. I am 49 years old and married with no children.

Where do you live? In the city!

How do you commute to work? I take public transportation to and from work. When the weather is nice, I brisk walk home to unwind and relax.

What are your hobbies? I spend time after work relaxing, going to the gym if there is time, cooking, reading, watching TV or meeting up with family and friends. I love listening to music and reading. Classical music is particularly relaxing for me and I listen to it even when I work out. I try to incorporate fitness into my routine wherever possible. When I work late, I’m not able to go to the gym.  So at home, I do stretch exercises and lift weights to strengthen my muscles, bones and back.  On weekends, I make it a point to either go to the gym or when the weather is nice, run in the park.  I also love to go to museums. For vacation, I like traveling to interesting cities with beautiful architecture and a rich history.

How did you first learn about DASHA®? DASHA® participated in our health fair in the office late last year. During my last winter vacation, I suddenly had severe lower back pain that limited my movement. I could not even bend to put my socks on and certain sitting and sleeping positions were difficult. Pain medication helped and upon returning to New York, my colleague, who had already been to DASHA® for back pain, suggested that I go in for treatment.

How did DASHA® help you? During my first appointment with Dr. Pollack, I still had lower back pain and discomfort while sitting down. Dr. Pollack explained the benefits of chiropractic treatment before doing the adjustment. During treatments, the muscles are conditioned through heat therapy and massage before an adjustment. They have also recently incorporated some stretching for me, which helps to condition my muscles for running or any form of exercise. I have been going for regular treatment since then and feel more flexible and just better overall. I think it is important to take care of these little problems before they escalate.

Define what DASHA® means to you. Complete wellness! They have various services that look after the client’s well-being whether it be chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, physical therapy or personal training. The facilities are up to date, clean and beautiful and I enjoy going there for treatment, which is also my 45 minutes of peace and calm. The services are excellent.
