My mom says I am her “Little Chihuahua”
Yes this is true. For many years I’ve been called SHA, Shan, Shanny, but my all time favorite is when my mom calls me her “Little Chihuahua!” Sounds kinda funny, Huh?
So, what’s in a nickname? Let’s start with some Corruption. Meaning an additional name that may be used at random times. Nicknames are just so informal, easy to say, and a bit lazy, I guess.“Little Chihuahua” is something that has actually grown on me. I’ve finally come to terms with my “dog title.” You know you have a good sense of humor when you can laugh at someone referring to you as a dog! The way I see, it must mean “I am entertaining, loyal, little, and filled with a personality unmatched by most!” Thanks, mom.
I’ve been trained by the “One and Only” I dream of Jeanie! You see a “Chihuahua” inherits genes for a normal temperament, so how you raise them will determine how they turn out. I think my mom did a pretty decent job with me!
Back in the 80’s when I was a kid I saw my mom a whole lot! For years she worked out of the house, and when she wasn’t doing that she would take me to Fortunoff’s for hours (to torture me), and then reward me with an Ice Cream Sundae from Friendly’s. Somehow my mom always knew just how to get what she wanted! I think I grew up in a fairly normal home, well whatever normal means. Most day’s we had dinner together, she helped me study for my quizzes and on Thursday nights we would snuggle up and watch “Knots Landing, Dynasty or Dallas.” To think that none of those thing’s exist anymore is absolutely crazy! It just goes to show you how important it is to cherish your memories especially with your mom.
So with Mother’s Day creeping up on us, I figured it’s the perfect time for me to share how I really feel about “My Mom.”
My mom is truly special. She’s seen me through some CrAzy Ups and Downs and All Arounds. She’s held onto my deepest and darkest secrets, (although now that she’s getting older, I need to be more careful with her). She’s stood by me through all life’s storms, marriage and the birth of my two babies. She and I have survived the worst imaginable things, and formed an unbreakable bond as well.
