It’s Official
Summer is here and that means the weekends start on Friday’s at 1PM. Whether you get out of work early or not, your head is checked out for the weekend starting Friday afternoon. There’s probably a million thoughts running through your mind about upcoming weekend plans including what to do, where to go, what to wear and who to invite.
A weekend in the summer is usually filled with eating, cocktailing, lots of laughs and having a blast. Some of the weekends are spent filled with days at the beach and nights out dancing for hours. The hardest part of it all? Monday mornings. The eating, drinking and reduced sleep can make you feel groggy and sluggish, and it seems like it might take all week to recover.
A few tips to help with the Monday blues:
- Use the daytime to recover. Stay relaxed, take a nap on the beach, drink water, eat fruit. Use that time to chill and stay calm.
- At meals, try not to go full out and order the worst thing on the menu. Try convincing your friends to order a bunch of different things, so you can eat small bites of a few different things. This way, you aren’t overly stuffed and feeling gross.
- Take Sunday night off. In the Summer, we’re all easily convinced to drink every day of the week. By taking Sunday night off, and just sticking to water, Monday mornings will be a lot less painful.
- Monday routines are important! Get back on track. If your normal routine involves a morning run CrossFit or HIIT class , then wake up and go do it! (your body will thank you later). Exercise will help activate serotonin—those “feel good chemicals that will help regulate your mood.”
