Dear DASHA,
I love fruits and vegetables, especially in the summertime, but I have noticed that sometimes my allergies are especially prone to act up at outdoor summer barbecues and picnics with lots of fresh produce. I have heard that certain foods can aggravate and/or worsen my seasonal allergies. Is that true?

True. If you are sensitive to Ragweed and weeds, watch out for banana, zucchini, watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew, to name a few. Over half of seasonal sufferers may experience a worsening in symptoms (plant-food syndrome), such as itchiness and/or swelling of the mouth, tongue, and throat after eating them. As always, be vigilant and of course avoid any food that is associated with allergy symptoms. Get tested and know what to do as well as what not to do!
Stay tuned for more of my exciting, practical allergy tips and strategies that really work! Enjoyt your summer!
Best,
