Boy, do I love my food! I especially love cheeseburgers, lobster, and spicy Italian food. These foods hold a special place in my heart because they are the foods of my childhood.  I get this nostalgic feeling just thinking about them.  As a kid, my stepfather always BBQ’d on the weekends, which is why I love meat so much. I so looked so forward to those amazing burgers and steaks that I would often beg for him to make them during the week as well (of course, they were kosher).

Spicy Pasta!!!!  Yum!  I mean my maiden name is “Russo” so that def has a lot to do with it. My girl, Stacey always says that I’m “SPICY.” I guess that’s the the Italian-side of me because I always want things to have an extra kick!

Now, the lobster thing… well, let’s just say that I can eat a lobster like nobody’s business! From the tentacles to the claws, I know just how to work that baby. Don’t let my small frame fool you…I can break down a lobster with the best of them.  Every Sunday, as a child, we went to Nautilus Cafe in Freeport, NY. That’s where I honed my lobster eating skills!!! Sadly, as we get older our bodies change. The foods I loved then would now clog my arteries, give my high cholesterol, and a fat ass (although a BIG ass ain’t too bad)! So what’s left protein shakes? quinoa? and the Paleo diet?…..

Now my friends, is why I run. I feel no guilt! As long as I can keep my metabolism rocking and legs moving I am A-ok! My body needs the extra calories to maintain my weight and muscle.

  • The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that an active adult woman requires anywhere from 2000-2400 calories per day in their diet.
  • Adult men need approximately 2400-3000 calories per day.
  • The USDA also recommends that all adults consume between 45-65% of their daily calories from carbohydrates, 20-35% from fat, and 10-35% from protein.

All this means is Italian Chick (yes, that’s me), is getting her spicy pasta and hamburger tonight!
