I have no idea where the summer went and I’m sad the days are shorter, but loving the cooler weather and glad the kids are back in school! Between announcing some of our exciting new partnerships at DASHA®, deciding what the kids are going to be for Halloween this year, and Darren doing some work-related travel, we have our hands full. But I can’t let this month go by without sharing some of my favorite things in all the important departments of life, so please read on!
FASHION The approach of fall means more running around: leisure time and fun in the sun is over, and it’s all about running errands, work and family commitments! I don’t know about you, but I have a hard time doing those things in high heels! John Varvatos has some super comfy and stylish Converse sneakers – my favorite right now is the military green – it’s a great neutral color that goes with everything. If I really want to spiff up my look, there’s a camouflage pair with zippers that are hot to trot.
FOOD I’m a little obsessed with Blossom Du Jour – they are a restaurant that has been around since 2005, and they are dedicated to “delicious, healthy, cruelty free” cuisine. They have locations in Midtown West, the Upper West Side and Chelsea. I’m addicted to “Thrive,” this shake they make with kale, banana and almond butter. Green as the color of grass, when I get one of those, it disappears in 3 minutes flat, and I’m full and my taste buds are satisfied. They have so many yummy vegetarian food options.
BEAUTY Yes, summer may officially be over, but that doesn’t mean we can worry about sun damage any less. (Did you read the great piece Dr. Russak did on our blog about this recently? Please check it out if you haven’t. You’ll be glad you did.) I’m a huge fan of Bobbi Brown’s SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer, which both protects and hydrates my skin, while still keeping my look natural. For a busy working mom on the go, I will take all the help I can get!
CULTURE You know I can’t talk about my favorite things without bringing up my kids! And The Craft Studio on the Upper East Side keeps my daughter occupied for hours on end. It’s also a great place to host a birthday party. They’ve been around for nearly 20 years, and with great art classes, workshops and after-school programs, The Craft Studio encourages kids to be creative and express themselves.
SELF Where better to take care of yourself, than at DASHA®, and with the White Glove Treatment? We all have dry skin on our hands and feet, and summer sandals have likely left your feet looking more beat up than usual, so take care of them! No one wants scaly feet snuggling up to them! Start by putting your hands into heated booties and letting our secret serum work its magic!
