The last thing I expected to do on my vacation in Greece was to purchase a pair of shoes—let alone two, and a bag of course. While waiting for a transfer (that’s what they call “car service” in Greece) I noticed a few boutique stores across the way in NAMMOS Village. After looking closer, I was surprised to find my favorite shoe store was among them. I heard there were some very high-end stores in Mykonos, but had no idea I would find a Christian Louboutin! CL is known for their SEXY stilettos with red bottoms and are my absolute favorite. In summer they also carry wedges, which have a bit of height to them and look super sexy!
A shoe tip to readers traveling to the Greek islands: cobblestone and stairs are everywhere, so I was told to NEVER dare wear a heel (and boy was that true, bring flats, sneakers, Birkenstocks, and wedges.) I noticed a few girls wobbling along the streets which seemed like a struggle. I listened particularly to this one because of my recent foot injury. My goal is to get back into my heels that I parted with for a few months, plus wear the new additions I later bought.
After a few cocktails I of course ventured into Christian Louboutin. I made a little “donation” but hey, it was “Duty Free!” Plus, it was the perfect time to check out the brand new Fall 2018 collection, which featured not only trendy sneaks but also gorgeous chunky heels. Sadly, as I mentioned, these shoes cannot be worn on the streets of Greece, so instead of bringing them out they stayed all cooped up in their little brown boxes at my hotel. It felt somewhat home-y to see the boxes around my hotel room. Sometimes you need a bit of comfort when you are so far from home.
Toward the end of my trip the souvenirs were starting to build up a bit and I thought I needed an extra suitcase. Packing tip: Leave room for the souvenirs and travel with an extra suitcase! You can avoid the baggage fees this way in case you have to pick up an extra suitcase, and you will have extra room to use. It’s not easy to find an extra suitcase on a small island like Santorini, but I was finally able to find one in Athens to hold all of my extra souvenirs. But without the extra suitcase, upon boarding the tiny plane from Santorini to Athens, the flight attendant told me I needed to downsize my carry-on bags! Of course I had all of my new Louboutin’s and she wanted me to take the shoes out of the boxes. Without hesitation, I said “NO!” That was simply not up for discussion because as soon as they are taken out of the boxes, they lose value! I learned the hard way to bring the extra suitcase before it is too late!
