Fighting To Make A Difference
I know who I am! I am the founder of DASHA®, mother of two, wife and friend. I am fast. I am savvy. I am smart. I am a leader. I am a boss. And I can do it ALL …in heels! “We are not fighting to WIN, we are fighting to make a difference!” When you think about American history 200 years ago, the idea of achieving gender equality must have been unimaginable. August 26th is the official date for Women’s Equality Day #WomensEqualityDay. It’s celebrated because 99 years ago today, the 19th Amendment was adopted to the United States Constitution, granting women the right to vote. And although that was a massive step towards equality, we still have a long way to go…
The thing is, women aren’t asking for “special treatment” – we’re simply looking for the respect. Part of the reason I fight for equality is that I want to empower and inspire my children, especially my daughter. I would love for her to live in a world where it doesn’t matter that she is female. I want to understand my daughter to understand and recognize the importance of hard work and dedication. I want her to know that those two things will help her get to the places she wants to go and knowing that she earned something because she was the best.
So whether it’s more representation, equal pay, or just a seat at the table, woman want it! As an entrepreneur, boss, and leader of my own company DASHA®, I try not only to talk the talk, but walk the walk. I employ dozens of badass, talented, kind and brilliant women of all ages, religions, ethnicities and orientations. I know that these women are ON my team, are the best at what they do and have the will to drive it to the TOP! It is our duty as human beings to fight for this change because at the end of the day, we all deserve to be treated equally.
