The number one thing DASHA® Chiropractic and Physical Therapy team all agree on is teaching teenagers about the proper conditioning and postural ergonomics. So what can you do to help your athlete out? Talk to them about Stretching!
“Stretching helps to warm up the body, reduce toxicity, and prevent muscle cramping”
DASHA® “independent client providers” specifically the Chiropractic and Physical Therapy team, have been trained to treat sport related injuries. One of the biggest causes of injury that’s been reported to DASHA® seems to result from the lack of Stretching and or pushing the body past it’s natural limits. Before your teenager gets out on the field, remind them to listen carefully to their body because damage that is inflicted as a teen may creep up years later resulting to something more serious.
5 Tips For Your Teen To Remember
- NEVER skip out on the stretching
- Do a minimum of 8-10 minutes of stretching both(before & after) team practice, game or fitness class
- Hold each stretch for at least 30 seconds
- Balance is key (whatever you do on one side, make sure you do it on the other)
- Take it slow and steady and listen to your body
If you find that your teenager is complaining of discomfort or unusual pain that’s muscular, back, neck, leg or they are feeling any type of numbness and/or tingling they should be evaluated immediately. Having your teen checked out by a Chiropractic and Physical Therapist will ensure the diagnosis is clear and help with any potential injury.
