Sparkling Water Addict? Think Again.
It seems like every store is stocked with a variety of sparkling water brands and flavors. Over the past few years there’s been a decrease of soda drinkers, but a LG increase in sparking water fans. These drinks are low calorie, most of the time, and are tastier than regular water.
Many people have even replaced their water intake with sparkling water, but we’re here to tell you to stop! Sparkling water is not the equivalent of water, and shouldn’t be treated as so.
It isn’t as good for you as you may think
Flavored seltzer waters have additives that are acidic and can cause damage to the teeth. The additives can wear down the enamel on the teeth and causes cavities. Additionally, all carbonated drinks have been known to dry out the mouth. This isn’t good because the mouth needs saliva to help wash acid and food off of the teeth.
If you’re not in ❤ with plain water, but need a way to get your daily intake down, try flavoring your water with fresh fruits. There’s a variety of tasty combinations you can add into a cold glass to help add flavor, without adding in anything that might negatively damage the mouth or teeth.
