Some of My Favorite Things: May

My kids are about to be out of school, with my oldest one getting ready to head to my overnight summer camp alma mater, Camp Pontiac, and my youngest one looking forward to singing and dancing her way through theater camp here in the city.  In the meantime, we have my birthday and Father’s Day coming up, and I’m running around in high heels I bought myself as a Mother’s Day present, juggling at least three phone calls and two computers at a time. But I can’t say goodbye to May without sharing some of my favorite things!

BEAUTY – DASHA®’s partner, Russak Dermatology, offers complimentary skin cancer screenings to members of the DASHA® community, and I just had mine with Dr. Julie Russak.  It was a great reminder to continue taking care of my complexion, so I’m sharing this with you so you remember to take care of yours!  Warmer temps mean greater exposure to sun, so be sure to wear sunscreen!  I’m all about a minimalist look right now.  This past weekend I skipped the blowout and used a deep conditioner and put my hair in a messy up-do and used Christian Dior’s Addict gloss for a pop of color.  Who is the person who invented the idea of putting names on the nail polish?  I always find myself chatting with other women in the salon over the funny names of all the colors.  Do you choose a new color every time you get a mani/pedi?  Email me at sha@dashawellness.com!

FASHION – It’s after Memorial Day and the sun is shining – I am very into wearing all white.  It’s such a great, polished and comfortable look with which you can never go wrong.  Temperatures are still a little cool at night, so I’m wearing my VEDA white leather jacket with fringe, and I pair it with my Michael Kors Billy Studded Fringe Sandals with open toes and a zipper in the back and a gauzy white boyfriend shirt from Intermix.

FOOD – I love barbecued chicken!  I feel like I have discovered barbecue chicken all over again, and it’s a great source of protein.  Many thanks to my husband, who is not only a great doctor but also a great chef, for making me love this childhood staple all over again.

COMMUNITY – DASHA® has donated a stress relief package (a $530 value) to the Hearing Health Foundation event on June 9th in NYC.  The HHF helps to prevent and cure hearing loss and tinnitus through groundbreaking research.  Click HERE to donate now!  And if you want your company to get more involved in charity work, click HERE to read my corporate wellness blog post on different ways to go about that!

CULTURE – Sometimes the best culture is right in front of us!  The lilacs blooming in my garden out east smell divine and make me feel very zen.  My mouth waters when the smells of the mint and basil we planted waft through the wind to reach me.  And the other day I found myself spending 2 hours I didn’t have getting lost at Williams-Sonoma!  Anything that awakens our senses – smell, taste, sight – this is beauty and culture.  Make sure you leave time to appreciate and take in the world around you!

SELF – We are now offering acupuncture services with DASHA®’s licensed acupuncturist, Easter Yi, at our DASHA® Grand Central location on Wednesdays!  Email our concierge HERE to make your appointment now.  Acupuncture can help many problems, including infertility, sleep problems and chronic pain.  Enhance your well-being with acupuncture at DASHA®!
