Imagine you are speaking to or texting someone you’re dating daily and then – poof! – they disappear into thin air. Ghosting, or ignoring and cutting ties with someone you are dating with absolutely no warning, seems to be very popular in today’s dating world.
Can you recall that feeling when someone took a cheap shot or punched you right in the gut? This is what it feels like when you’ve been ghosted; it leaves you feeling disrespected and betrayed. But don’t mourn someone who does this too much. Ghosting shows no courage, selfishness and immaturity.
If someone wants to date you, they should make every effort to see you. If you notice any of the below actions in the beginning of your relationship, chances are it’s at a high risk for failure.
- They don’t respond to texts
- They take forever to call you back
- They keep cancelling plans on you
- They never want to meet in a public place
- They constantly check their watch or phone when they’re with you
If you’re ever tempted to ghost someone, remember to treat people like you them as you wish to be treated.
