WHAT IS LIGAMENT LAXITY?
Ligament laxity is chronic body pain characterized by loose ligaments. When this condition affects joints in the entire body, it is called generalized joint hypermobility. This occurs in approximately 5 percent of the population and may be genetic.
SYMPTOMS & DIAGNOSIS
Symptoms may include frequent sprained ankles, back pain, or bone dislocations. Individuals with ligament laxity can often bend their elbows or knees past a point of neutrality, touch their hands to the floor flat while bending forward from the waist, or touch their thumb to their forearm. Ligament laxity can be genetic, or it can be caused via an injury that stretches ligaments abnormally or tears them. The problem with ligament laxity is that an individual becomes more prone to injury, as the body doesn’t support joints as efficiently and other parts of the body may compensate for weakness. In severe cases of ligament laxity, a patient may suffer from degenerative joint conditions, osteoarthritis, nerve compression, and more.
HOW DASHA® “INDEPENDENT CLIENT PROVIDERS” MAY HELP
Proliferation therapy is a non-surgical alternative treatment of ligament laxity, wherein an irritant solution is injected into the weakened ligament to relieve pain. It can help to alleviate pain and protect the body from further damage. A personal trainer can also help you to develop a program of low-resistance muscle toning to stabilize loose joints and prevent further pain or medical problems.
