WHAT IS SPINAL ENTHESOPATHY?
Spinal enthesopathy is inflammation of a ligament, cartilage or tendon at the point it inserts into a bone that forms part of the spine. It can be caused by various forms of arthritis, Crohn’s disease, tennis elbow, iliotibial band syndrome or other physical injury or trauma. Left untreated, it can cause calcification, pain and immobility.
SYMPTOMS & DIAGNOSIS
Symptoms of spinal enthesopathy include a combination of acute or chronic soreness, irritation, nagging pain and inflammation as well as increasing difficulty of moving the affected area. Spinal enthesopathy can be diagnosed by any combination of physical observation of the symptoms and medical tests, which may include ultrasound and MRI.
HOW DASHA® “INDEPENDENT CLIENT PROVIDERS” MAY HELP
Physical therapy is a safe, non-surgical way to treat spinal enthesopathy, helping to reduce and eventually eliminate pain as well as increase mobility. Physical therapy can also be used in combination with adequate water intake, vitamin D, and anti-inflammatory medications or corticosteroid injections. Further research also recommends not consuming foods high in sugar, which can contribute to inflammation in your body.
