When it’s summer and the days are long and hot, I can’t get enough of my long dresses, flat sandals (yes, believe it or not, I forgo the heels!) and the beach at the Hamptons. Blue 1 Clothing Store. This boutique in Bridgehampton carries the most beautiful, well-made clothing for both men and women that says fashion forward and effortless at the same time. Whether it’s a dress, a top, a bag, jewelry, or that perfect hostess gift for a party, I find that I can never leave empty-handed! Hampton Coffee Company. Just because I’m not in Manhattan doesn’t mean I can go without my cup of coffee. Hampton Coffee Company has locations in Water Mill, Westhampton and Southampton. The coffee is delicious – you’ll find yourself nursing a cup as long as possible, and the Water Mill location has a great catering menu which is perfect for that lunch or bridal shower or baby shower even you have to host and don’t want to make yourself crazy over.
Cooper’s Beach in Southampton. Okay, so it definitely helps that this beach happens to have the same name as my son, but this one is just gorgeous. It’s also the only beach in the 7 miles of beaches in Southampton that has a lifeguard, which is great for those who have children playing in the water. Chair and umbrella rentals are easy, and they have bathrooms and fresh water showers. And did I mention the surf and sand?
The American Hotel. The American Hotel in Sag Harbor is a must-experience, whether it’s for dinner or drinks or both. There’s live piano music Wednesday through Sunday evenings in August to make you feel like you are stepping back in time. The perfect way to wind down after the beach!
Quogue Wildlife Refuge. 305 acres of beautiful hiking trails and an indoor nature center to keep you and the family occupied for hours – great on those overcast days you decide not to hit the beach. Open sunrise to sunset! Free admission. You can spot bobcats, owls, foxes, opossums, turkeys, tortoises, bearded dragons, chinchillas and birds.
